Where It Counts

We collaborate with local companies that possess the expertise and resources required to carry out effective bear-resistant upgrades for both commercial and private properties. By investing in bear-resistant measures such as secured garbage systems and cutting-edge deterrent technologies like electric mats, fences, and window systems, our goal is to eliminate direct attractions for bears and minimize the likelihood of conflicts occurring.

Founder Jake Willers, who has been involved in filming urban black bears for the past 18 years, has witnessed firsthand the inefficiency of bear-resistant measures implemented by communities. He understands that relying solely on the discretion of the general public and property owners often leads to the implementation of minimal deterrents. This, in turn, drives bears to seek alternative methods of accessing food, resulting in more severe property damage and potential harm to humans.

Bear Town Foundation takes the burden of inaction and indecisiveness away from the public, providing solutions to mitigate these issues without causing financial strain on property or business owners. Our primary goal is to ensure the long-term survival of wild black bears by eliminating attractions and preventing the need for euthanasia, which becomes necessary when bears become overly habituated to human sources of food and become a danger to humans.

Let's take the necessary action to improve our environments to ensure the preservation of our bear population.
